Difference between Modifier and Intensifier Keep the following points in view: 1  Unlike modifiers , which modifies words or phrases in the sentences, an intensifier is a term for a modifier that amplifies the meaning of the word it modifies. 2  An intensifier is used entirely to modify      Adverbs  &     Adjectives      This is placed before the word it is meant to modify.     Examples: a.
