Need (as a noun) a situation when something is necessary or must be done. i) to sataisfy/ meet/fulfil a need ii) need for something  Example : 1. There is an urgent need for qualified nurses. 2. They identified a need for further training. 3. There is no need to cry. 4. There is no need for you to get up early tomorrow. 5. I had no need to open the letter- I knew what it would say. 6. We will contact you again if the need arises. 7. A friend in need is a friend indeed. 8. Call me any time, if any need is required. Need (as a verb) to require something/ somebody because they are essential or very important, not just because you would like to have them. Examples: 1. Do you need any help? 2.
